|Nothing can get another person more riled up than their partner. As a Jacksonville, Florida domestic violence lawyer, I get to see and hear it all, but I was not expecting to hear about an issue that happened on Valentine’s day this year. In most statistical reports on domestic violence, more domestic violence occurs on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year.
Valentine’s Day is way down the list, but this year, a couple began to argue in their car while their child was in his car seat in the back seat. The argument led to fisticuffs while the Husband was still driving. The Husband hit the Wife and the Wife hit back, which made the Husband even angrier. As such, he drove to the local police station to have an officer settle the dispute. As a result, the Husband was arrested for DUI and for domestic battery, and the Wife was also arrested for domestic battery. The minor child was placed into the care and custody of extended family and is safe. Personally, I prefer chocolate on Valentine’s Day but to each their own.
